Most electric cars in the UK charge through two plugs: Type 2 for everyday charging and CCS for rapid charging. Since 2017, UK law has said new public chargers must have them.
Newer cars and chargers may also show a letter in a hexagon. If the letter on your car matches the one on the charger, they fit.
C is Type 2. K and L are CCS. M and N are CHAdeMO, the rapid plug used by older Nissan Leafs. B is Type 1, an older plug.
The labels have been required on new cars and chargers in the EU since 20 March 2021. Since Brexit, it's for the UK to decide how the rule applies, so you won't always see one here.
